Program Overview

Career Objectives:

  • Complete a career goal card and essay yearly.
  • Purpose is to be sure students are aware of careers available and the path needed to reach their career goals.

Program Highlights:

  • Students learn to work on everything from weedwackers to motorcycles.
  • Students can graduate certified by EETC in 4 stroke engines and can also earn their PA state inspection license.*

(*Must have valid driver’s license with endorsements (motorcycle) and be 18 years of age.)

 

Curriculum and Occupational Titles:

  • The students will each go through the curriculum supporting the following:

  Small engine technician

  Motorcycle technician

  Marine technician

  Diesel

 

Grading:

  • Syllabus for written class work and homework assignments will be provided.
  • Students must follow safety rules.
  • Students will also be assessed on their hands on performance and employability skills.
  • KNOWLEDGE 30%
  • WORK ETHIC 30%
  • SKILLS 40%

Program Expectations:

  • Upon successful completion of the Recreational Power Equipment program, students should be able to obtain and entry-level position in the industry as a small engine technician, motorcycle technician or marine technician.

Uniform/Clothing Requirements:

  • Purchased at school:

  safety glass ($5)

  Power and Transportation cluster shirt ($15)

  • Purchased elsewhere:

  work pants ($15-$20)

  work boots ($20-$30)

 

Program Fees:

  • Activity fee ($20)
  • Seniors will need $80 for 4 stroke certification test and $75 for state inspection.

Program Rules/Regulations:

  • Must change into uniform within 5 minutes of arrival.
  • Safety glasses must be worn at all times in the lab.
  • Work area must be cleaned daily.
  • No jewelry can be worn around hands or neck.
  • Must follow NMTCC Code of Conduct.
