Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers

Description: This course is an introduction to the SLC 500TM family of small programmable controllers. You will learn hardward configurations and computer numbering systems and receive hands-on experience using SLC programming basics. Scan time, logic continuity, and external I/O devices: relay type instructions, timers and counters are all covered. Troubleshooting techniques are introduced throughout each topic area. Understanding of basic computer skills/Windows and the concepts presented in Industrial Electricity I is desirable.
Prerequisite: Basic electricity
Note: All adult students must present a Driver’s License or state-issued ID as part of the registration process. The ID will be scanned and screened for registered sex offenders. Participation in programs is contingent on the results of the screening.
