PROPERTY MAINTENANCE AND RENOVATION (CIP Code: 46.0401)
Property Maintenance and Renovation prepares students for career paths and employment
opportunities in the construction industry through technical knowledge and skills in building, repair,
and general maintenance of residential buildings and other structures. The program provides instruction
in many of the construction trades, including: structural carpentry, finish carpentry, millwork, plumbing,
electricity, masonry, concrete, tile setting, installing hardware, heating, ventilation, waterproofing,
roofing, siding, drywall, painting, regular tool and machine maintenance, environmental control
systems, and record keeping. Students learn to use hand and power tools, construction materials,
estimating, blueprint reading, and construction safety. Graduates of this program are prepared for
employment in construction fields or may pursue specialized training through an apprenticeship and/or
postsecondary education.
