North Montco Technical Career Center is more than just a school—it’s a place where students discover their passions, build their futures, and sometimes even meet their soulmates. Kelly and Kyle, both North Montco alumni and now teachers, began their journey in the classrooms and workshops of North Montco—a journey that continues to inspire students today

Kelly’s journey began when she enrolled in the Graphic Arts program as a 10th grader. Her creative nature drew her to the field, and she quickly found her place. As a student, Kelly worked in the school’s copy center, an experience she credits with helping her develop independence and confidence, both as a professional and as a young adult.

After graduating in 2009, Kelly pursued her passion for design at Antonelli Institute, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design and Commercial Art and graduated as valedictorian of her class. She built a successful career in the industry, most recently serving as the Creative Director for beMarketing. In September 2024, Kelly returned to North Montco as the Advertising Design teacher, where she now inspires students to follow their creative dreams. Kelly encourages students to embrace every opportunity, saying, “Treat every opportunity like it’s your destiny. Prepare for presentations like you’re interviewing for your dream job. Only present work that you’re truly proud of. Pay attention to details and never sell yourself short.”

Kyle’s story began in North Montco’s Welding program, where his teacher, Mr. Schmidt, made a lasting impact. Kyle often credits Mr. Schmidt for preparing him to work “hard and smart” and setting the foundation for a successful career in the welding and fabrication industry. Over the past two decades, Kyle has honed his skills, including owning his own metalworking business from 2018 to 2023. He currently works as a pre-fabrication welder for MYCO Mechanical and shares his expertise by teaching adult education welding classes at North Montco.

The couple’s story wouldn’t be complete without mentioning how they met. In 2004, as Kelly began her classes at North Montco, she and Kyle crossed paths as volunteer scare actors at the Tylersport Haunted Hayride. Their shared love of creativity and community sparked a connection that has grown stronger over the years. Kelly and Kyle were married in 2011 and now have three children together. They continue to organize the Tylersport Haunted Hayride each year, encouraging North Montco students to volunteer and earn community service hours toward programs like the National Technical Honor Society and SkillsUSA.

From students to professionals—and now educators—Kelly and Kyle’s journey exemplifies the lifelong impact of career and technical education. Together, they inspire the next generation to dream big, work hard, and build a future they can be proud of.
