CDL Behind-the-Wheel

Flexible Scheduling Availability

Training is offered between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. seven days a week.  While we strive to accommodate student schedules, availability for specific days and times may vary based on enrollment and instructor schedules.

Description: Drivers who are applying for an initial CDL, upgrading a current CDL, or obtaining a hazardous materials or passenger endorsement must successfully complete a prescribed program of theory and behind-the-­wheel instruction prior to taking the CDL test. NMTCC is an FMCSA training provider. 
On-the-road training for Class A or B vehicles -shifting, backing, night driving, skills maneuvers, and road test requirements will be covered.

The CDL Skills and Road Test is administered by a local PennDOT-approved testing site. 

Cancellations, No-shows, or Failures are not included in final tuition pricing. 

Tuition Includes ELDT Theory and One-on-One Behind-the-Wheel Training.

Class A (30 hours minimum) Fee: $5,550.00

Class B (20 hours minimum) Fee: $3,700.00

Refresher (15 hours minimum) Fee: $2,775.00

Additional hours (exceeding minimum package) Fee: $185.00 per hour

Requirements: A three-year driver abstract, a DOT Medical Card, and a PA CDL permit.

Testing Information:

CDL testing is conducted by approved third-party providers and at PennDOT sites when available.  Testing fees are set by providers and may vary.  

North Montco charges a separate flat fee for equipment use, instructor support, and coordination of the testing process. 

Two Options are available for testing:

Option 1:  Full-Service Testing (Recommended) - Fee $350.00 plus third-party testing fee (if applicable).

Includes:

  • Truck
  • Instructor accompaniment
  • Scheduling assistance

Student Pays:

  • Third-party test fee prior to scheduling (variable by provider)
  • School support fee prior to scheduling

Option 2:  Self-Arranged Testing 

Student:

  • Schedules their own test
  • Provides their own vehicle
  • No instructor support

Student Pays:

  • Only the third-party fee to the testing provider

Note: All adult students must present a Driver’s License or state-issued ID as part of the registration process. The ID will be scanned and screened for registered sex offenders. Participation in programs is contingent on the results of the screening. North Montco Technical Career Center strives to comply with all PA Department of Education and Act 44 Safe School standards.
