Power and Transportation Technology

Auto & Truck Collision Repair: 
This program is focused on high tech training necessary to diagnose and repair the finish coatings, cosmetic features, structure and complex components/systems in today’s automobiles. Any student successfully completing this program, or a segment of specialized instruction can be ready for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.

Automotive:
This program trains students in the operation, diagnosis and repair of various vehicle systems. The program is certified by AYES (Automobile Youth Educational Systems), NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) and ASE (Automobile Service Excellence). The eight ASE curriculum areas include: engine repairs, brakes, automatic transmission/transaxle, electrical/electronic systems, manual drive train and axles, heating and air conditioning, engine performance and suspension and steering.

Diesel Truck Technology:
As the trucking industry continues to expand, the demand is growing for mechanics and technicians to repair and maintain diesel engines. The Diesel Truck Technology program provides realistic marketable entry-level skills to secondary students and adults. This program follows the ASE/NATEF national standards for Medium-Heavy Duty Diesel Truck technology.

Outdoor Power Equipment:
From lawn and garden equipment, such as mowers and chain saws, to vehicles such as motorcycles and snowmobiles, small engines power many machines that make our lives easier and more enjoyable. Outdoor Power Equipment Technology is the study of “how and why” machinery operates along with the “whys” of machinery failure and the learning of “how to” diagnose the problems and make proper, efficient repairs. This program also explores alternate fuel systems in order to prepare students for future small engine technology.

Parts & Service Management:
This program covers automotive parts and systems identification, tools and fasteners, inventory control, cataloging and pricing, sales policies and procedures and sales promotions. All students enrolled in the cluster will have a training period in this program. Those students that wish to pursue a career as a Parts Specialist may continue in the program after their initial training period. These students will be responsible for the complete operation of a parts department from which the trade areas will receive the majority of their parts and supplies.
